Jessica Alba says:
“If you are sporting a pregnant belly, it’s better to show it than to hide it,” she tells the magazine. “If you look in the mirror and you look really wide and frumpy, then you’re going to appear really wide and frumpy. The more figure-forming your clothes, even though you have more curves, the better.I like long, thin sweaters that kind of hide my hips and my booty,so there’s not a huge emphasis on how big they’re getting.”

Jessica Alba admitted that keeping a straight face on set was a big challenge, since most of her scenes were with funnyman Ben Stiller. Still, she had a blast, she said, particularly with her character's freewheeling ways. "It was just fun and pretty liberating to play someone who was just so open and so free and totally crazy."

Jessica Alba On The Latina Cover Girl Magazines

Jessica Alba: ”I Can’t Wait For My Baby to be Brown”

In Latina’s March 2008 cover story, Jessica Alba gets personal with Editor-in-Chief Mimi Valdés Ryan and directly responds to the rumors that have resulted in her now-commonly used nickname, “Jessica ‘Don’t Call Me Latina’ Alba.” Check out some of her revealing answers below, and don’t forget to pick up the full story when the issue hits newsstands on February 19!

On her reluctance to walk the red carpet at Latin events: “I’ll support those shows, but I can’t go on the press lines and have people make me feel bad about myself. Life is too short. I can’t change how I grew up, and I shouldn’t have to apologize for it. I know I feel close to the Latin community, because that’s what I grew up with.”

On claims that she’s proud to have cut loose from her Mexican roots: “I never said that. Cut loose from what? What the hell are they talking about? Why would I want to cut loose from the only family I know?”

On not learning to speak Spanish as a child: “I wish to God that my dad spoke Spanish to my brother and me, but he didn’t grow up with it.”

On confusing other men for her dad as a kid: “When I was little, I used to go up to black men and hold their legs, thinking it was my dad all the time. I’d wrap my arms around them, then look up and be like, ‘Oh my God!’”

On being accepted for who she is in Hollywood: “I was always trying to figure out: How the hell am I going to be mainstream? How are people going to accept me? When are the going to get a clue that I am American, that this is what America looks like–people like me who are mixed, have different blood, mixed with different ethnicities? When are the people who are hiring for these jobs and writing these screenplays going to realize that?”

On what she wants her baby to look like: “I’m excited for my baby to be brown. I just have to believe the dark gene is going to survive. Cash and I are like, please!”

Jessica Alba is more afraid of breastfeeding than giving birth

Jessica Alba has opened up for the first time since announcing she and fiance Cash Warren are expecting their first child.

"It’s quite a blessing and perfect timing," she tells Extra in an interview, airing Wednesday, of her pregnancy.

But she says the whole experience has left her feeling more emotional.

"Anything could make me incredibly angry or break down crying," she says. "That’s not something I’m used to.”

Her one fear about mommyhood: Breastfeeding.

She says she recently had a dream and "it had to do with breastfeeding which is the only thing I’m paranoid about. More than giving birth.”

How is she staying in shape during her pregnancy?

"I try to eat as healthy as possible and exercise," she says. "As long as I don’t gain too much, too fast, that’s the key."

Jessica Alba @ 80th Scientific & Technical Awards (2/9/08)

She looks hot! I don’t love this dress but she is pregnant so I understand she doesn’t have as many options. I keep reading things she has said throughout her pregnancy and she comes off as a complete ass. She mentioned wanting her childs primary language to be Spanish but she doesn’t speak Spanish herself… She wants them to be connected to their heritage, a culture she has denied in the past. She is Latina but up until recently she considered herself American. Which one is it? I didn’t even know she was latin, she looks pretty white to me.

Jessica Alba Is Proud Of Her Heritage I Want a Brown Baby

Say it loud: Jessica Alba is brown and she’s proud! The actress, who caught flack last year for saying that she considers herself American and not Latina, is doing some backpedaling on the March cover of Latina magazine.

The pregnant actress says that she hopes her baby inherits her ethnic looks. “I’m excited for my baby to be brown,” she tells the mag. “I just have to believe the dark gene is going to survive. Cash [Warren] and I are like, please!”

But the new face of Revlon put her foot in her mouth once again when she bragged about her low-maintenance lifestyle. “I’m not a make-up and hair kind of girl,” she said. “I don’t really have a brush.”

Uh, Jess, Ron Perlman is on line two for you…

On being low-maintenance:
“I’m not a make-up and hair kind of girl. I don’t really have a brush.”

On her ethnic looks:
“I like that I look different. I like having flavor. I think it’s funny that women get their lips injected and get butt implants. Everyone wants to look like us now.”

On the plastic surgery trend among L.A. women:
“In Beverly Hills there’s a whole race of women that look exactly the same. The cheeks, the lips, the t*ts, the a*s — everything. They’re scary. They’re so skinny.”

On why she doesn’t think she’s sexy:
“Scarlett Johansson is insanely sexy, Jessica Biel is insanely sexy, Angelina Jolie is insanely sexy. So why me? It doesn’t even make sense.”

On claims that she’s cut loose from her Mexican roots:
“I never said that. Cut loose from what? What the hell are they talking about? Why would I want to cut loose from the only family I know?”

On not learning to speak Spanish as a child:
“I wish to God that my dad spoke Spanish to my brother and me, but he didn’t grow up with it.”

On confusing other men for her dad as a kid:
“When I was little, I used to go up to black men and hold their legs, thinking it was my dad all the time. I’d wrap my arms around them, then look up and be like, ‘Oh my God!’”

On being accepted for who she is in Hollywood:
“I was always trying to figure out: How the hell am I going to be mainstream? How are people going to accept me? When are they going to get a clue that I am American, that this is what America looks like — people like me who are mixed, have different blood, mixed with different ethnicities? When are the people who are hiring for these jobs and writing these screenplays going to realize that?”

On the Hollywood double standard:
“No one gives Cameron Diaz a hard time for not speaking Spanish,” says Jessica. “Her dad’s Cuban, and I was telling her I feel so bad because everyone is so nasty to me for not speaking Spanish. She’s like, ‘I don’t speak Spanish! I barely speak English!’ ”
